Nicole Malachowski
Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF (Ret.), defies every stereotype: a trailblazing leader, combat veteran, and the first woman pilot on the USAF Thunderbirds, she is also a White House Fellow, squadron commander, and inductee into the National Women’s Hall of Fame and Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame—with a Star Trek starship, USS Malachowski, named in her honor.
Over a distinguished 21-year Air Force career, she flew more than 2,300 hours in six aircraft, served over 188 combat hours, led historic missions including security for Iraq’s 2005 democratic elections, commanded the 333rd Fighter Squadron, and held senior roles at the Pentagon and the White House, including Executive Director of the national Joining Forces initiative advising Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden.
Her career was abruptly derailed by a devastating neurological tick-borne illness that left her unable to speak or walk for months, yet her indomitable spirit carried her through recovery and into a new mission as an advocate for veterans’ health and Lyme disease awareness. Drawing on extraordinary achievements and profound adversity, Nicole inspires audiences to move beyond resilience toward resurgence, grounded in her core beliefs that risk and failure are the price of greatness, sometimes yielding is how we overcome, and “nobody wants to lead a scripted life.”
